The First Japan ("we", "our", or "the App") is a premium offline travel guide application. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy describes how the App handles your information.
We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.
The First Japan is designed as an offline-first application. The core features — dictionary search, how-to guides, manners guides, kanji art, and shop directory — function entirely on your device without any network connection.
The App requests camera access solely for the Scan & Translate feature, which uses on-device optical character recognition (OCR) to detect Japanese text in photos. Photos taken within the App are processed locally on your device and are never uploaded to any server.
The App requests location access solely to display your current position on the map. Location data is used only within the App for navigation purposes and is never transmitted to external servers or stored beyond your current session.
The App uses OpenStreetMap for map display. Map tile requests are made to OpenStreetMap servers when the map feature is used while online. OpenStreetMap's privacy policy applies to those requests. No personal data is sent with these requests.
All dictionary data, guides, and app content are stored locally on your device as part of the App installation. No user data is stored on external servers.
The App does not include any analytics tracking, advertising frameworks, or third-party data collection tools.
The App does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. The App is rated 4+ and contains no objectionable content.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
